What is a Brazilian Butt Lift?
The Brazilian butt lift is a plastic surgery procedure used to enlarge and redefine the shape of flat and saggy buttocks. This procedure should not be confused with the “Brazilian Butt Lift Workout” that is commonly advertised on the internet, which is simply an exercise routine. The true cosmetic procedure offered by our board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Benjamin, is a one-time operation that does not require a rigorous exercise program.
How Does it Work?
The Brazilian butt lift procedure yields a fuller, thicker and perky rear end by harvesting excessive fat cells from other areas of your body and transferring them into your buttocks. Fat in the flanks, hips, lower back, thighs, or abdomen is liposuctioned, purified and then injected into the muscle and soft tissue of your buttocks. Fat is purified so that only the best donor fat cells are injected back into your buttocks.
Following your Brazilian butt lift surgery, you will likely experience soreness and swelling at the sites where fat was injected or removed, but this pain will subside in a few days. Recovery time will depend upon the extent to which liposuction was required, but most patients are able to return to work within one to two weeks provided no heavy physical exercise is required. During this time you will be required to wear a compression garment that will aid the healing process. A full recovery can be expected within one to two months.
