As you can see the Aerolase® laser system effectively heals a number of skin ailments. Although each ailment is unique, the underlying healing process the laser uses to treat them is sometimes the same.
Aerolase® laser skin tightening reduces wrinkles and the appearance of loose skin. Generally speaking, the procedure works by heating the collagen and elastin fibers under the skin’s surface. This causes the collagen fibers to contract, which causes the skin to tighten. Our spa also offers other procedures to tighten skin and remove unwanted ryhtids such as Exilis®, Botox®, and Juvederm®.
Skin discolorations can occur naturally as we age, or can be triggered by over-exposure to the sun or toxins such as cigarette smoke. The result is an overproduction of melanin in the skin which causes most discolorations. The Aerolase® laser system works by targeting and breaking down the excess melanin, while simultaneously promoting collagen reformation. This same method of action is used to address pigmented lesions such as birthmarks, freckles and sunspots, as well as acne scars.
Rosacea is a skin condition characterized by redness of the face and/or nose, blushing easily, acne-like skin sores, and also a burning feeling in the face. These symptoms are treated by focusing the laser on and disintegrating the tiny blood vessels that cause this condition.
Psoriasis is a skin disorder characterized by thick silvery scales and itchy, dry, red patches that are sometimes painful. It occurs when the immune system mistakes the skin cells as a pathogen, and then tells the body to speed up the growth cycle of skin cells. Traditionally, this disorder was treated using ultraviolet light therapy (UVB); however, this method does not allow the doctor to safely treat specific, sometimes small areas. Using laser treatment, our doctors are able to narrowly focus the laser on the targeted area, which slows down the abnormally fast growth of the skin cells.
